On October 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM, in Classroom 15 (third floor) of the Department of Economics, Professor Juan D. Moreno-Ternero (Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Sevilla, Spain) will give a seminar entitled “The Allocation of Riparian Water Rights”.
The seminar will explore an axiomatic approach to the allocation of riparian water rights, focusing on how ethical and structural principles can be translated into allocation rules. Professor Moreno-Ternero will illustrate how different combinations of these principles lead to rules inspired by the principle of Territorial Integration of Basin States, with particular reference to cooperative game theory and the Shapley value. The discussion will be complemented by an empirical application concerning the allocation of riparian water rights in the Nile River.
