Overview

The international PhD in Economics, Management and Statistics is a three-year postgraduate study program organized by the University of Messina.
The main research topics promoted by faculty and students enrolled in the PhD program range from international economics to growth economics, econometrics and applied statistics, financial economics, strategic management to environmental economics, public economics, and territorial economy, among others.

The program is divided into three curricula: Economics, Management, and Statistics. In the first year of the doctorate, students are expected to attend four introductory courses: Mathematics-Linear Algebra, Statistics, Econometrics, and Introduction to STATA. Additionally, a seminar series on academic research methods is also offered. Such courses are common to all curricula. Subsequently, based on their knowledge and aptitude, doctoral students are expected to attend core courses different for each curriculum.

Thanks to the international contacts of the Faculty Board, second- and third-year doctoral students are offered the opportunity to spend visiting periods abroad in renowned universities and international research institutes.
